Zach Galifianakis weight loss was due to alcohol free diet: Why he quit drinking - National Celebrity Fitness and Health
Zach Galifianakis attributed his recent weight loss, estimated at 50 pounds, to an alcohol-free diet. While Galifianakis didn't reveal diet or workout details of his weight loss regimen, he said let alone beer and other alcohol had a dramatic impact on his waistline.
"I stopped drinking and I just kind of positioned the weight off," Zach told Conan O'Brien. "I was working with a lot of vodka with sausage. Delicious but bad for."
In another surprise revelation, the notoriously private Galifianakis finally revealed he and his wife, Quinn Lundberg, are the proud parents of a little one boy.
Zach began losing weight in 2012 particularly now thinner than ever before. In fact, he lost so many pounds he had to use a prosthetic belly for the 2013 comedy, "The Hangover Part III".
While weight loss is a great side effect of sobriety, Galifianakis, 45, admitted he a new problem with alcohol for many months and months. He decided to stop drinking in 2012 after two guys spit in his face during a drunken episode in New York.
"I was setting yourself up with too much challenge with the drinking," he explained. Zach said he got angry after a guy driving a Jaguar cut him off when he was crossing the trail.
"As he cut me off, I hit the car as hard since i could with my hand," Galifianakis valued. "I turn around, and it's two huge, 6-foot-6 guys [from the Jaguar]. They both, at drinks as well . time, spit around my face!"
Galifianakis made dependent then and there to stop drinking, calling the episode humiliating and frightening: "I don't determine if you've ever been spit in the facial skin non-sexually, but all I remember getting so stunned," he recalled.
Other celebrities in which have lost dramatic amounts of weight after eliminating alcohol include Tim McGraw, who lost 40 pounds a great alcohol-free Paleo diet and CrossFit workouts, and Chris Pratt, who lost 80 pounds on the carb, beer-free Paleo-style diet.
Galifianakis, who would rather keep a low profile despite his success, said he's disgusted with the way Hollywood constantly congratulates itself. Zach said he enjoys acting, but has no interest in as a "celebrity," calling the circus side-show regarding fame ridiculous.
"I just think it can be gross sometimes, during Hollywood congratulates itself all the time," he said. "They oversell it like we're curing cancer. Being a celebrity is s**t. It's dumb, and I'm not interested in it also."
