Male Acne Treatment

About Male Acne
Acne is Acne, Right?
For years, we’ve been hearing the same basic message – acne is acne. We’ve been told to try different versions of the same old skin cleansers, astringents, creams, and pills over and over again…to dry up our oily skin and zap our pimples. The problem is that not all acne flare-ups are caused by the same factors. And when it comes to breakouts experienced by men and women, the differences are especially pronounced.
It’s no surprise that male acne sufferers often feel as if nothing will ever fix their problem. Most popular skincare products are designed specifically for women, because the “beauty industry” views them as their primary consumers. While the factors that cause acne in men are a world away from those that affect women, skin care regimens treat everyone alike. As a result, guys simply don’t get what we need.
The One Critical Difference

As you probably know, men produce a lot more of the hormone testosterone than women do. In addition to being responsible for many of the other things that make us male, testosterone also causes our skin to be 30% thicker and to produce 70% more oil than women’s skin does. Not to mention that it makes hair grow all over our faces.
In other words, not only does your testosterone cause excessive inflammation under your skin, it also causes excess oil production and facial stubble.
In fact, according to a recent study at the UCLA School of Medicine, acne-causing bacteria not only grow beneath your skin, but also linger on facial hair and stubble even when your most recent outbreak of pimples fades (Source: Journal of Investigative Dermatology 2013).
As a result, your acne keeps coming back again and again.
How to Treat Male Acne
Clinical research shows that the real source of acne is inflammation deep beneath the skin’s layers in an area called the sebaceous glands — and no other acne product on the market treats inflammation.
Remember, just about every acne product is designed with women in mind. So how on earth can conventional female-oriented acne products penetrate our thicker, oilier, hairier skin to get at the root cause of acne, inflammation all the way down in the sebaceous gland?
